Tattoo aftercare
2 weeks before the tattoo appointment
The skin is our largest organ. That's why we recommend you take care of it before your tattoo appointment. The healthier your skin is, the smoother the tattooing process will go!
If your skin is well-moisturized, the ink will be applied more easily and therefore faster. What does that mean for you? Less pain and a more beautiful tattoo! Sounds good, right?
moisture
It's best to apply cream to the area to be tattooed several times a day. Suitable products include moisturizing creams, coconut oil, body lotion, etc. But be careful: Do not apply any cream on the day of your tattoo appointment!
Food and Drink
You can also care for your skin "from the inside out." Healthy food with sufficient vitamins and enough fluids not only facilitates the healing process.
For the tattoo appointment
Come well-rested, unstressed, and with a substantial breakfast. It shouldn't be heavy, though.
Things that can make your appointment more pleasant:
Snack for in between
beverage
Hand towel
Pillow or neck pillow
Music / Headphones

After Getting Tattooed
We place great importance on the highest possible hygiene standards while tattooing. However, aftercare is just as important!
Hygiene
For you, your tattoo is a work of art. For your skin, however, it is a wound! Cleanliness is therefore the top priority.
Foil, Cleaning and Proper Care
After tattooing, we cleaned your tattoo and covered it with a protective film. We use two different types of film: adhesive film or regular plastic wrap.
IMPORTANT: Always wash your hands thoroughly before caring for your tattoo! You should also wear loose, lint-free clothing over the tattoo and (of course) never scratch it.
Adhesive Film
According to the manufacturer, the adhesive film can remain on the wound for 3–7 days. During this time, wound fluid and excess ink will collect underneath. This may not look very nice, but it is normal and part of the healing process.
After 3 days, you can remove the film under running lukewarm water (shower) and gently rinse your tattoo clean. Do not use soap for the first 2 weeks!
Towels should also not come into contact with your tattoo during the first two weeks. It is best to pat it dry using sterile wound pads from a pharmacy or clean paper towels.
It is also important to apply a thin layer of Bepanthen cream to your tattoo several times a day for at least 2 weeks after removing the film. Please do not use Bepanthen Plus, Vaseline, milking grease, or any home remedies! These often do not react well with tattoo inks.
Checklist:
-
Remove the film after at least 3 days under lukewarm running water
-
Clean with lukewarm water – no soap! Then pat dry with paper towels or sterile pads
-
Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen several times daily for 2 weeks – only Bepanthen
Regular Plastic Wrap
Regular plastic wrap can be removed after at least 2 hours or the next morning. Then proceed as described above for adhesive film.
For the first 3 nights, apply a thin layer of Bepanthen and wrap the tattoo with clean plastic wrap. This prevents drying out, accidental friction, and keeps your bed clean. Make sure the plastic wrap is truly clean and not something that has been lying around in the kitchen for weeks or months.
If necessary, you may also protect your tattoo this way during the day from dirt and friction. It is important to change the wrap every 8 hours, clean the tattoo with lukewarm water, and apply a thin layer of Bepanthen each time.
After about 1 week, this should no longer be necessary.
Checklist:
-
Remove the wrap after at least 2 hours, preferably the next morning
-
At night and if needed during the day: apply a thin layer of Bepanthen and cover with wrap – change the wrap at least every 8 hours, clean and reapply cream
-
Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen several times daily for at least 2 weeks – only Bepanthen
Caution!
Avoid sports, sauna, tanning beds, sunbathing, full baths, swimming, and similar activities for at least 2 weeks.
Pain
Pain is normal even several days after getting tattooed. If the pain increases unusually or if other unusual changes occur, please contact us or a doctor.
